Your conscious mind is only 10% of your total mental capacity while your subconscious mind controls 90%. Many people try to solve their issues on the conscious level. Since all habits and behaviors are stored in the subconscious mind, if you decide you want to change the habit – stop smoking, etc. – your subconscious mind will resist the change because it does not recognize and accept the new behavior. Your subconscious mind has to recognize the new habitual behavior for the change to be effective.
